It’s getting warm out and the sun is more brazen, as the days lengthen into summer. It’s also time to ask yourself this question, "Are you satisfied with the style and performance of your sunglasses?’" Whatever the answer, you will probably want to continue reading today’s segment.
Enter William Painter. This San Diego based sunglasses company, co-founded by four cool bros, Zach Luczynski, Patrick Eckstein, Matt DeCelles and Steven Dempsey, is at it again with Kickstarter. This is the third Kickstarter campaign William Painter has conducted for what will be its third product. The past two were greatly successful bringing to fruition The Hook and The Lume, with the latter smashing its $3,000 goal raising 1,472%.
William Painter's latest endeavor is dubbed The Hughes—its meticulous attempt of perfecting the classic aviator style sunglasses. Like its other lines, expect the frames to be rear-weighted for better comfort and the lenses to be polarized to mitigate reflection. And yes, they are guaranteed for life.
“William Painter as a company is about reengineering classic products using new technology to make them the best they can be and the Hughes are an example of that,” says Patrick Eckstein.
The thin frames are composed of aerospace grade titanium that provide much needed strength—a downfall with most aviators on the market today. Not only this, but they are hypoallergenic unlike many frames, containing irritable metals and other materials.
Other specs include protective armor coating to avoid scratches, hydrophobic lenses to maintain cleanliness, and temperature resistance for when you leave them inside the car, while in a desert, during summer in Africa—just saying.
For $125 you can back The Hughes and choose between the black or gold color options. They each come with a protective hard case and shammy cloth.
When asked about the long-term goal and vision, Eckstein replied, “We want to continue to stick to our core values by making products that are more than meets the eye in which our millennial generation can identify with.”
Being that this is William Painter’s third successful Kickstarter campaign (yes, they have already well surpassed their $5,000 goal), some might think that they are staffing up and on their way to becoming a sizeable company. Yes and no. Yes in the fact that they have identified a need and are delivering on that need, but no when it comes to big corporate structure and bureaucracy. This is a group of entrepreneurs that is enjoying the journey.
“Every campaign has challenges such as understanding our core audience and goal structure in order to enhance our process. We hope people will see we are just a few people who want to provide quality products to enhance their lives and put a smile on their face! If we can do that, we win!”
What are you waiting for? POP on a pair of The Hughes by William Painter and experience them for yourself.
