I have come to the realization that even my eating style has establishing its own reward based system. As I mentioned last week in the feature about Organic Rising, I have become more aware of what I eat. The food that I consume throughout the week is healthy and some-what delicious based on my cooking skills. However, one day a week, I reward myself for staying true to my eating style and eat whatever I may be craving. So, it wasn't hard for me to get excited about and plan for what Megan Gordon and Shan Foisy of Lady Yum are calling "edible circus of imagination and delight."
Caution: You may want to go ahead and get your wallet ready to back their project.
Looking to open up their own parlor in Kirkland, WA, Megan and Shan have the vision and passion for sharing with the rest of us what may be the most mouth-watering Macarons I have ever seen. With what started out as making high end custom wedding cakes has now transitioned into fancy little cookies.
Now these aren't just any fancy little cookies. Using creativity, imagination, and gluten-free ingredients, Lady Yum's Macron options sound just as good as they look. With "flavors like Mango Habanero, Fennel Pear, Maple Bacon and Pineapple Upside Down Cake," it's a no-brainer that you should buy all of them. Just don't forget about their best sellers, Salted Caramel and Toasted Coconut.
However, it needs to be noted that Lady Yum's vision is more than just Macarons. Focused on building upon a community, they aim for connecting people and places. As they put it, "We don’t just use local ingredients, we showcase them. Together we meld talents to make something truly unforgettable. And that is what we want our flagship store to be - unforgettable."
With the ambitions of having three parlors opened up by 2016, it's easy to see that Megan and Shan are locked in on achieving their goal. It's not everyday that you hear people tell you that your cookies have changed their life, and that's what Lady Yum is hearing. Lady Yum has the potential of being the go to place within Downtown Kirkland, drawing in not only locals, but also visitors in town.
Personally, I know if I'm in the area, I'll be sure to stop by, have a few Macarons (potentially 21), enjoy the scenery, and focus on The Freshpreneurs' next moves. Until then, I'll just have to wait for my 10 Macarons to come in the mail, which I don't plan on sharing a single one.
Overall, these mouth watering, 95 calorie cookies POP.
