Camping has not been a big component part of my life. The few times that I've gone out with friends or family members can be summed up as just par. One factor that had a negative impact on these experiences was the tent we used. At night, it didn't really matter how we adjusted it or where we pitched it, sleeping in it was not comfortable. It may not seem like a big deal, but if you're camping and looking to enjoy the outdoors, then quality sleep is a huge factor for the next day. So, I knew for a fact that I wasn't the only one who had experienced the same problem, since I was able to find a project owner who is currently looking to change the tent function of camping for outdoor men and women. Dan Robertson of Utah has an idea significant enough that it may change the way campers approach their tent life.
As a regular camper, Dan realized on a trip with his wife that bringing an inflatable mattress on a trip, followed by trying to fit it in the tent wasn't the best approach. He used that distress as motivation to create a better experience. He has now turned that idea into Aesent, the world's first tent with an integrated inflatable base. Dan has "built the tent to be durable, functional, and, most importantly, comfortable." The base is made from a vinyl that is more durable and sturdy than the regular air mattresses that campers use. It only takes two minutes to inflate the base, providing the camper with a comfortable area to sleep without having to worry about the air being released quickly throughout the night. And, for those looking to make a trip with a lighter load, Aesent comes with the capability of being able to remove its base, utilizing just the tent. Overall, it's hard to miss the quality of the tent. It's made by campers for campers, so making sure the quality aspect of it passed the test was a big component for Dan.
Also, one concept that caught my eye about the project was the reward system. The last few rewards include a trip to either Missoula, Montana or Moab, Utah, in which Dan describes as two of his favorite locations to visit and camp. The scenery is beautiful and breath taking. But here's the great thing about the perks. If a backer decides to go that route, Dan will join the backers on their trip to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
When I spoke to Dan, one notion was clear. His idea is intriguing and efficient to the point that he's had strangers contacting him about wanting to go into business with him, and/or invest in his product. They understand the impact Aesent could have. I know that the camping community is pretty large niche, and from our conversation, Dan mentioned he will be working towards bringing Aesent to retailers, small and big. Potentially, not only could Aesent reach the current experienced campers, but ignite a new wave of rookie outdoors men and women, helping create an enjoyable experience.
Overall, knowing that you'll have a good night sleep out in the outdoors POPs.
