If you're like me, you're trying to figure out how we're already in August. Before we know it, 2015 is said and gone. The days seem to fly by, without any hesitation of wanting to slow down. 2016 is knocking on the door, so we might as well start preparing for it.
For Karl Lindsay of Newcastle, Australia, preparation for 2016 started 12 months ago, but not the way you'd be expecting. Karl, a wonderful photographer, has been travelling the world, taking breathtaking photos from various countries. Continuing with his plan of sharing the photos with the rest of the world, he has launched a Kickstarter project to make it happen.
Towards the end of 2013, Karl started utilizing calendars as a way to share his photos and experiences. After quickly selling out of his 2014 and 2015 calendars, on a smaller scale, he is aiming for a bigger batch for the upcoming 2016 calendar. As Karl explains, "In the last 12 months I’ve taken some of my best photos yet from some of the most epic destinations on the planet."
With the goal of raising enough to create the large batch of calendars, Karl has created a small variety of rewards for the backing community. The calendar itself is the main reward. Each calendar is "11.69×8.27 inches and printed in full colour on 250 gsm coated art stock." Karl is also providing backers the opportunity to purchase his photos as canvases, available in medium, large, and extra large.
Karl's photos are flat out beautiful. He's utilizing calendars as a way of sharing his experiences and passion. With an abundance of calendar options available to the public, we miss out on knowing the backstory of the pictures. However, it's different with Karl's product. Crowdfunding allows him to share his story with the rest of us, further connecting us with his photos.
With 2016 right around the corner, taking an advantage of Karl's calendars would be nice way to bring in the new year. His project has the potential of finding its way onto the homes and offices of many, whether for yourself or given as a gift.
Overall, combining awe-inspiring photos with calendars POPs.
