Life is made of moments. Moments that inspire, moments that annoy, and everything in between. Surely, we have all experienced the moments when we need something that we don’t have, like a bottle opener, screwdriver, or connector of some sort.
Rok Nemec of Ljubljana, Slovenia wanted to eliminate these moments, so he set out to create a solution for them. Not wanting to recreate the wheel or add another device to fill our already crowded pockets he developed an enhancing daily wearable.
“I always wanted to have a tool to solve everyday problems,” says Nemec. “I decided to make my own with [a] unique design. That is where a guitar shape came [from]. I like music so I made a guitar carabiner.”
This is no ordinary carabiner, rather it's the Carabinsi. In its most fundamental form, sure, you could use it to carry keys and clip it to a belt loop. Or even, attach it to a bag as an external tote. The Carabinsi will support up to 22 pounds or 10 kilograms. However, the Carabinsi was created with so much more in mind.
Laser-cut into its stainless steel frame are four hexagon openings of various size that serve as a wrench or an adapter to insert 1/4” screwdriver hex bits. The Carabinsi also opens cans, bottles, boxes, and can be used to break glass in the case of an emergency. Additional options include a customized logo and Near Field Communication (NFC) chip.
The NFC chip is programmable to interact with your phone with a tap (close proximity). You can create any basic function such as turning on the flashlight, loading a webpage, or play your music.
The Carabinsi has two models: Jimi or Billy; the former resembling a guitar. Each of these can further be modified to include an NFC chip and logo. The early bird special allows you to choose your model for only $20 and includes a squeeze coin purse.
I think that the Carabinsi fits a needed niche delivering far more than a key chain while avoiding the bulk and weight of a multitool. Introducing it on Kickstarter will hopefully generate the awareness that Nemec needs to create demand for this product. He commented, “I see it as the fastest way to start a business [as] Kickstarter is the top of the top in crowdfunding platforms”.
Nemec sees the natural progression of this idea spreading to businesses and music groups, specifically rock and metal groups. With the customizable logo it would be a great stocking stuffer or company swag gift. Artists can further utilize the NFC chip to queue their latest hit single to play on fans’ phones.
POP a top and much more with Carabinsi.
