![]() The Producer: You’re engaged and in the zone—actually crossing time zones. You’re keeping your boss updated and your clients satisfied. You’re mobile devices are humming, when all of a sudden you get that all too familiar notification - running low on battery. The above situation is not unique, but common to many, including David Giacomini. But, rather than seek out the nearest kiosk for a quick charge, Giacomini created a company dedicated to staying charged. Giacomini is so committed to the new venture, VoltNow, that he stepped down from his CEO role of the Florida-based retail chain Levenger earlier this year to fully devote himself to its success. The Offer: VoltNow comes to Kickstarter for the launch of VoltVoyage—a travelling solution for the charging dead spots encountered in terminals around the globe. VoltVoyage is a suitcase with built-in wireless charging capability. It has all of the desired amenities of proper luggage; standard carry-on size, polycarbonate shell, TSA locks, aluminum trolley handles, and spinner wheels. As for its charging ability, Giacomini explained the team’s thought process during development. “We wanted to make sure that the user could turn on and off the battery from outside and also be able to visibly see the battery capacity LEDs. We were working on several wireless charging products at that time and the thought occurred to us to incorporate wireless charging into VoltVoyage.” To wirelessly charge your mobile device, simply place it on top of VoltVoyage. USB cable charging is also available and accessible through two side ports. Voltvoyage can fully charge a smart phone 8-10 times. The Potential:
“Our mission is to design and develop innovative charging solutions to empower customers to stay connected,” says Giacomini. “In 5-10 years we want people to think of VoltNow when they think of these types of devices." VoltVoyage is the potential foothold that VoltNow needs to inject itself into the masses. Kickstarter may prove to be a smart decision for the company as Kickstarter has a nice track record with the tech category.
